Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2 in 3D!

Warner Brothers has confirmed that Part One of Deathly Hallows is going to be in 3D and it's likely Part Two will be the same!

What is everyone's thoughts on 3D? Personally, I'm old school and prefer watching my movies without those pesky glasses. Although I'll admit I was very impressed with Half-Blood Prince's 15 minutes in 3D on IMAX! That was cool, but I don't know I could tolerate the entire film like that. Good news for people like me, though, is that the film will also be playing in 2D so we get to choose!

I know some people aren't really keen on 3D, but I really like this idea. The key is, IMO, the subtly integrate the 3D onto the film instead if using it as an in-your-face sort of technique.

I know we have a thread going about Avatar, so I'll use that as an example! That whole film was in 3D, but it didn't feel as if everything was coming at you. Instead, the 3D was used on the background and special effects to make it feel as if you were IN the world.

I think that'd be AMAZING with Deathly Hallows!

I am like Steph, I am old-fashion, and like 2D best. I do enjoy the odd movie in 3D but I think they are using it too much.

Will probably watch in 2D first and then 3D out of curiosity.

I'm going to go with what Kait said. I think if it's similar to what Avatar did, where it was more of an immersive effect than just gimmicky, "dodge that spell!" kind of effects, then it will be really cool. I did like the 3D at the beginning of HBP.

I'm planning on watching it in both flavors. I'm sure I'll be able to fit both versions in there somewhere in the probably 8 or 9 times I'll see it in the theatre.

Ah, I'm exaggerating.

Maybe.

I think because they've been filming DH before knowing that it would be in 3D, there won't be a lot of gimmicks.

Either way, like you Sophie I'll probably be seeing the film in both 2D and 3D a handful of time...

Yeah, exactly. They probably did a handful of scenes with an eye to 3D like HBP, but with the whole thing being converted, it will be more about depth than things flying at the audience.
