HBP Receives PG-13 Rating

The MPAA has updated their website tonight to reflect the rating for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The sixth film has received a PG rating for "scary images, some violence, language and mild sensuality."
<p>
Half-Blood Prince if the first Potter film to receive the PG rating since Prisoner of Azkaban. Both films four and five received PG-13 ratings in the United States.

Hmmm what do you guys make of this?

Personally, I don't think the rating has anything to do with how good the movie is or not. Still can't wait to see it!

"PG?"
wow. thats really not what i was expecting. At all. I mean, you have death, romance, epic-ish battles. I just thought another PG-13 was in store.
not complaining. just surprised!

Wow, pg13 is a little suprising I'll admit I was not expecting that due to the contents in the book, but Yeah I agree I don't think that the rating will determine how good the film will be, I'll just be happy if there's a great ending to the movie because the last several chapters were my favorite in the book. This movie also looks like it's going to have a lot of humor thrown in and I'm looking forward to that, especially the scene where Ron eats the love potion. Rupert also gets to play quidditch in this movie and I can't wait to see that. Overall I'm just excited and the pg rating doesn't change that.

I think that the PG rating is totally appropriate. This will give parents the opportunity to decide whether their younger children (under 12) will be able to go to watch it. It will create a big boost to prepare for the final film and it will give another boost for a new generation to experience the wonders of Harry Potter that are not familiar with the books. It can only help the total franchise both books and movies.

I think it was pretty predictable actually. you know, with all the death and those stuff, kids under the age of 12 could watch it and suffer from post traumatic stress disorders or something like that.

Thumbs down

I was wicked bummed about the rating.. that means there are going to be little kids running around screaming when there is some thing scary, and they can't even relate to the characters...a 13 year old and a 16-17 year old have different minds, i WISH IT WAS PG13, but then again people don't consider certain things that scary any more compared to a few years ago... yeah know?
